Shrimpfinity, Installation

Shrimpfinity is an immersive, mixed media installation created by “MILAGROS Collective” that honors one of Florida’s most beloved Gulf creatures, shrimp. Shrimpfinity hosts a larger-than-life shrimp cocktail sculpture, colossal shrimp disco ball and a unique soundscape featuring the sounds of real shrimp. As guests explore this whimsical shrimp-themed wonderland, they’ll be immersed in a sea of pink hues created by the hand-painted murals encompassing the walls and floor and hand-made animations of projected shrimp.

“We’ve always had a deep admiration for the versatility of this often underrated crustacean,” said Felici, “This installation will be delicious even for those who cannot safely partake in eating them… we imagine the Sunnymooners most likely enjoyed fresh gulf shrimp too!”

For this project, MILAGROS Collective teamed up with collaborators Jourdan Joly, Jaime Bird, Jess Bizer and Tristan Whitehill to create a completely immersive experience.

Bio—
MILAGROS is an artist collective co-founded by Felici Asteinza and Joey Fillastre that creates site-specific murals, installations, paintings, small objects and community spaces. The Florida-native duo met while studying Fine Art at Florida State University. Their practice is characterized by exuberant arrangements of color and form, hand-drawn pattern, experimentation, immediate visual impact and an underlying spirit of play – exemplifying the themes of art for all, joy for all, play for all within FloridaRAMA's experience.

MILAGROS Collective’s murals and installations have been commissioned by institutions, non-profits, and businesses across the Southeast, including ArtPlace America x Elsewhere Museum, Contemporary Art Center New Orleans, the Young At Art Museum, New Orleans Public Library, the City of Decatur x MARTA, the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville, and Kaboom!, among others. The Collective has also participated in numerous artistic residencies, including Elsewhere (Greensboro, NC), Joan Mitchell Center (New Orleans, LA), A Studio in the Woods (New Orleans, LA), The Studios at Mass Moca (North Adams, MA), and ProjectArt Social Practice Residency (New Orleans, LA). Milagros is based in New Orleans.
