On view in “Sugar coat Disco’ and in “Shrimpfinity” Midnight Zone Mirrorball is a light art installation capturing the enchantment and fragility of the undersea world. Combining Jaimie’s passion for creating striking visual experiences with sculptural design. Guests are invited to step into an immersive realm—a glimpse into a habitat of bioluminescent wonder. Here, the Midnight Zone becomes a magical space where light shimmers on the ocean floor, and mysterious creatures beckon from the depths, offering a dazzling escape into a world of hidden splendor and delight.
Bio—
Jaime Bird is a multidisciplinary artist, creature collector, and aqua fanatic at heart. From evil stingrays, animated sea monsters, bloodthirsty sharks, or anglerfish disco balls; Jaime is no stranger to crafting alluring, provocative creatures who manifest her innermost anxieties.
Jaime received her Master of Fine Arts at the University of South Florida in 2013. She was an Exhibit Educator Intern at the Florida Aquarium. Jaime has participated in residencies at the Arctic Circle, Banff Centre, Atlantic Center for the Arts, OxBow School of Art, and Mass MoCa. Jaime currently lives in New Orleans and is a longtime member of the Aquarium Gallery & Studios.
