Florida Room, 2D paper cutting

Jordie Poncy makes paper cutting art that focuses mostly on subjects found in nature such as plants, animals and landscapes, as well as unique building interiors and exteriors. His diorama celebrates the architectural concept known as the “Florida room,” along with the whimsical interior design style of “Palm Beach chic.” Think wicker, windows and wallpaper meet parrots and palm trees. Of his diorama, Jordie says “the colorful paper cutting medium allowed me to capture the vibrant and joyful essence of a uniquely Florida tradition.”

Jordie Poncy enjoys making paper art. His style pares structures and landscapes down to their essential shapes and colors, which creates an appealing, accessible and playful feel to the images. Jordie says “If viewers think I had fun creating a work, then I have done my job.”
