Centered around the theme Black Is Beautiful, Nick highlights his love for black culture by depicting the day-to-day struggles and joy of the characters in the portraits he creates. His work also addresses mental health awareness, a topic that is personal to Nick. He is open about his own mental health challenges and how his art is an outlet for expression and healing.

Nick started sketching on paper at a young age and made the switch to digital art after his wife gifted him an iPad when epilepsy left him unable to work. The digital medium opened up new modes of expression. Nick began creating work that reflects his personal experiences and provides a touch point for future generations looking to find their voice. His work skillfully combines colors and textures to tell stories and evoke a sense of possibility in scenes that often feature the more mundane aspects of everyday life.

At Fairgrounds St. Pete, Nick’s signature Black portraits will be on view in the penthouse windows of the Mermaid Star Motel, representing hotel guests and residents occupying the world inside the exhibition.
